Turtles and Pies but NOT Turtle Pie

Mar 23, 2013 22:22

Well, I seem to be settling in on tumblr. I can do all the basic stuff now, have some people to follow, have some people following me, and have the best extensions (what you need to make the site actually...useable) up and running. So far my blog there is made of lots of Robert Carlyle, OUAT, some David Tennant, and fair number of turtles. Yeah...a ( Read more... )

Rose has grown so much. I like her little 'hands'. So delicate.

So still too juicy? I was wondering how pie-dom was going. But you said pre-cooking might mean less pies! Oh noes! ;-)

What about fresh fruit? Blackberries were dirt cheap a few months ago but then they went up. I can sometimes get a pint of organic blueberries for only a dollar a pint but yesterday they were two dollars. I don't eat raspberries do I don't know about them. But fresh might work too?

I'm totally your pie sounding board if you want one. ;-)

She is a sweet turtle but has a strong bite. I'm always careful to keep my hands away from the food so she doesn't get confused. And she will be happy to have her new tank!

Not too juice - actually just the right amount of juicy and firmness. However, I needed more thickener than I like the taste of.

As for fresh fruit, it is VERY EXPENSIVE here still so frozen is the way to go. Also, the point of this is to make a frozen berry pie that I love and can make every winter. (Fresh I'm already an expert with since I generally make pies with the season.) I think I'll probably make one more before I take a break to make other things.

I did like your idea of lattice crust! It definitely helped. And I think you were the one to suggest precooking so I will look to you for pie chat if I need it. :)

Okay! Happy to lend an ear. Try a bit of sugar too when you pre-cook. Just that and the berries' own juices might help.

These tips are mostly trial and error. And from Bridget! Happy baking!

I'm glad you're enjoying Tumblr. :) I didn't know about extensions. I wonder if they're new since I left? Hmm. Also, Tumblr makes it kind of hard to have conversations, unless people reboot and add comment, if I remember correctly (or if they've changed something).

Rose is so cute! And such a big girl, moving to a big tank!

Yummmm, pie! Good luck with the continued (tasty) experiments!

It's still hard to have conversations there but people do so there is hope. :)

She is VERY MUCH looking forward to her bigger tank. This one is way too small for her to move around much in.

Thanks. I do love experiments I can eat.

Stay away from my turtle! *looks at you suspiciously*

I never had turtle soup pre-Rose and now it would be like eating a cat.

turtle and pie? this post is what I dream about at night! XD

lol nothing makes me feel old quite like the learning curve that is tumblr. Like, how can a website exist when it basically needs browser extensions to make it the slightest bit tolerable?

Hee. I am happy I could make your dreams come true!

Considering that being over twenty is a big deal there, I do feel especially old. What I can't figure out is why they have no interest in designing in any way to converse with people.
