Hey, I kind of disappeared after my post on Friday: generally being busy combined with feeling antisocial. (Though I didn't get to really be antisocial since I had a big family get together on Sunday. Which was nice and I like my family so no complaints. But maybe I was saving up my socialness. *g*) I've also been exhausted the last couple days and ( Read more... )

Can't wait to hear your comments on last night's OUAT :-)

In other news, I spent part of the weekend watching Formula 51 and Go Now back to back, and my brain has melted. Also, for Go Now, there were tears. Many, many tears. I am not entirely shallow.

I'm writing up my thoughts now. It was tough getting started because it is a hard episode to wrap my head around.

I have not seen Go Now yet. I'm not sure if I want tears. *hides* Formula 51 I have seen though and it was pure cheese. *g* Well, I should say I watched most of it since I skipped forward through most of the non-Carlyle scenes. I have my priorities!

Go Now is a gem, and absolutely heartbreaking. And yes, F51 is a ball of processed cheddar, but I'm easily entertained, sometimes. Samuel L. Jackson in a kilt, and the bathtub fun, and exploding!Meatloaf. What can I say, it was Saturday, and last week was hell on a cracker. I may even watch it again :-)

Oh, it was definitely a fun movie to watch for all the reasons you mentioned! But it goes on the list of movies I only watched because of my Carlyle obsession. The only movie of his that I really didn't like was The Tournament. It was way too violent for me and movies whose point is to kill people in as many ways as possible are not my thing.

I am still ridiculously behind on OUAT and so have nothing topical to offer.

PoI, however...I am loving it. We had to illegally download yesterday because we had a storm on Thursday night that cut six minutes off the end.

One of the things the show did that was weird, was they had that episode in the middle where John gets shot and wins Carter over to his side, and it felt so much like a season ender that we exchanged a significant glance across the couch and were all - this can't be the end of the season, can it? We boggled and were happy to see 'next time on' at the end. I'm guessing they only ordered so many eps at first so they ended that number on a bang or something.

I agree it just gets better. The character beats are phenomenal recently and John and Finch are completely adorable together.

I hope you get a chance to catch up on it soon! I think watching the episodes back to back will be a good way to do it. Waiting a week between episodes is frustrating. (I also think the last third of the episodes has been been quite strong.)

We saw the episode of him getting shot a couple of weeks ago (when it showed on repeat) and that was an excellent episode. Now that I think about it, it does make sense that the episode was written as a ending point for the series if it didn't do well. Smart writers have to be prepared for a short run and put together something which could still be sold on DVD.

OUAT - catching up impulsereader May 8 2012, 23:35:25 UTC
Yes, there was a point where I thought to myself, 'there are only a couple left. it makes much more sense to just hold off and watch them all at once with a gigantic bowl of popcorn. I'm looking forward to contemplating the season as a whole and see where fandom takes it during the hiatus.

I'm glad you had a good time with family! And I hope you get all rested soon!

Person of Interest is interesting, isn't it? Sometimes I really like it and sometimes I'm just confused and find their too calm voices annoying. :/

I'm feeling good now! I'm all rested again and I should be getting things done instead of play on my computer. :)

Heh. John's voice is very monotone and even, isn't it? I guess it's supposed to be soothing. The actor doesn't sound like that as himself so it must be a conscious choice for the character.

I've always wondered why the actor plays his Reese with that voice!

Me too once I realized it wasn't his voice. It does make him sound both tough and controlled so maybe that's it.
