Time of Angels Review/Picspam - Doctor Who

May 12, 2010 22:23

Since watching Time of Angels I've been a bit torn between writing up a review of this episode alone or waiting until this weekend when I've seen both. A two-parter is going to necessarily be incomplete and what we think we know at part 1 may be overturned in part 2. However, after mulling it over and thinking about the episode, I've decided that I ( Read more... )

Even if I wanted to hate her, I could never hate anyone whose shoes are that FIERCE. She probably stab me with them. :D

I will say this: After years of watching Alex Kingston play long-suffering and emotionally wrecked Dr. Elizabeth Corday, it's nice to see her play something completely different, even if she is a sassy-ass.

Jay always refers to her as the woman from ER even though neither one of us ever watched the show.

It must be refreshing to play someone who is not miserable though.

I thought that it was interesting that River was much more annoying in these episodes (at least, to begin with; she dropped most of the annoying mannerisms as things got serious) than she was in the Library episodes, when, presumably, she's older and wiser. (It also strikes me that there may be an element of insecurity in her behavior - since they're meeting out of sequence, does she worry that she has to go out of her way irritate and fascinate the Doctor so as to ensure that he asts in such a way as to ensure the past with him that she remembers, which is his future?)

Personally I found her more annoying in the Library episodes but I admit that she wasn't trying to be. Here it seemed like she was putting forth an effort. I can see that as insecurity - both for the reason you mention (to keep him interested so that he continues the relationship) and because there is some secret she has that she doesn't want him to know yet (so smoke and mirrors to keep him from wondering).

In fact I would not be surprised if she has made a special study of the Doctor's buttons and pushes them with full knowledge of their effect.
LOL!

Lovely post btw, enjoyed it muchly. :)

Thanks! Her diary just has to be full of things like 'If I twit him about brakes, he looks like he wants to strangle me. Must use that one again.'

I still don't like the Doctor with weapons. Ten started a trend there!
