Doctor Who - Victory of the Daleks Initial Thoughts

Apr 21, 2010 00:04

I finally watched Victory of the Daleks! I'd been putting it off a bit since I've been rather over the Daleks and then the reviews have been mixed as well. However, I enjoyed it! Not OMG love but it was funny enough had plenty of crack to enjoy - an enjoyable, rather light-weight episode. I'm not quite getting an emotional involvement yet with ( Read more... )

Re Amy's age - the Spaceship UK was launched in the 29th century, but Liz 10 had been queen on it for over 300 years, so the story occurs in at least the 32nd century, possibly later. I don't think we can date it precisely enough to say definitively what year was 1306 years before the story date.

But, yeah, there's an awful lot of timeline wibbly-wobbliness going on for only 3 eps in.

Hmmm. You make sense! It still seems to a couple hundred years off though but maybe that's a mistake and not a clue. :D

I thought about this too, but the Doctor says that humanity leaves in Earth the 29th Century, not that they're *in* the 29th Century. (It makes sense to me! *g*)

Anyway, lovely little review, and I felt the same - not brilliant, but perfectly nice. As paratti put it:

Great Amy. Great Eleven. Daleks win.

No, you're right! He never does say what century they are in just when everyone left Earth.

Heh. That sums it up perfectly.

Mmm, ball bearings. Now i want cupcakes, too. Yum.

Is that true about Amy's age? Weird. Of course, i've said there was something odd about her all along.

Don't they sound tasty? I'm thinking vanilla pudding filled. And they'd be pretty too! The new Daleks come in such pretty colors.

There's definitely something odd about her. Exactly what I'm not sure but she doesn't quite add up.

You thought the Daleks were cute?? The Daleks had sort of begun to loose their menace to me, but then they were all 'Can I gett youuu a cupp of teeaaa??' and I FREAKED. Scariest Daleks are the Daleks that act of character. When the new ones came out my sense of order was returned and they lost some of they're menace lol.

*pets you* The first ones didn't scare me though I wondered what they were up to. And then the new ones came and I wanted to snuggle them. Such cute colors! BBC marketing has gotten a hold of the Daleks. I totally need to make Dalek cupcakes soon.

We don't really have those here, but I can see the resemblance!

*nods* I agree. I want some more character development. And I don't think that we're going to get it next episode either. Moffat is going to be busy with his other character. *cough*
