My iPod Has Been Taken Over by David Tennant

Hmph. The snow storm is a dud around here. MAYBE we'll get 3 inches. I guess I shall have to remain envious of other people's snow. *ducks flying snowballs ( Read more... )

It was one of my aims in moving here - to be able to take advantage of all these great bands. I've not done a great job so far, but I really enjoyed their show :D

I've only listened to one song by them so far, but I liked it enough to want to hear more! It's weird but I've listened to very little music since Chicklet was born, so I need to figure what I like again.

Heh. So far I just have the bedtime stories on the ipod (my daughter loves them) but I can see adding some more for those times when you need a fix aren't near your dvds.

It took me a while to warm up to The Fratellis, but now Chelsea Dagger is one of my favourite songs. I only have that one album (Costello Music) though. I haven't been brave enough to check out the rest of their catalog.

He's also into Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, and (of course) The Proclaimers, so that might be a good place to start. There's a new-ish band that he mentioned recently, but I don't remember their name.

If you're looking for new material, here are some other bands I like that I have found on my two year Quest for New Music, partially influenced by DT and Doctor Who Confidential:

- Turin Brakes
- Muse
- Doves
- Elbow
- Joseph Arthur (hit and miss)
- Death Cab for Cutie

Chelsea Dagger is the one that I heard! I quite liked it and need to listen to some more. Okay, this is weird, I just turned Pandora back on - I haven't listened since this afternoon so I'm up to about song 6 and it's Coldplay. Spooky. The thing is possessed.

I do already love Franz Ferdinand predating my Tennant fangirling. And the Proclaimers as well. Kaiser Chiefs I have to listen to. Maybe they'll be my next song. :D

Thanks for the list! I know Muse and Death Cab for Cutie, but not the rest.

I like some of Coldplay and Snow Patrol's stuff, though Coldplay's "Yellow" was way overplayed around here, and as such I still have an aversion to that album. Snow Patrol's "Final Straw" and "The Finish Line" are good; "Songs for Polar Bears" was not my thing.

You can have my freakin' snow. I'll mail it up to you. All 3+ feet from the past week.

Actually you know what we should send it to vancouver. So that way they can have it for the Olympics.

We'll be lucky if we get 3 inches. And that's the last snow for at least a week. *shakes head*

Poor Vancouver! They need it and they're not getting any. Is it even cold enough there to make snow? I hope?

I confess I do enjoy that band. For some reason I get just a little bit too happy when he talks about loving a certain band or song that I'm really into. I know when he was on COC Breakfast Show and he picked Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars as his song of the decade, I had a bit of squee as it's one of my favorite songs.

I can second the Muse rec, they are awesome!

Ha! Song six on my Pandora was Chasing Cars! I have the same musical taste as David Tennant! (And you. *g*)

WHOOT!

It was a bit scary listening to his radio gigs and there were times he was having to defend his choice of music and all I could think was, "I really like that song, leave him alone!"

Plus on Buzzcocks...I agree with him, Coldplay is really good.

Heh. He knows what he likes and he's not afraid to admit it!
