I actually really liked that they didn't waste time on "oh noez Charlie is hurt woe!". mr_luna commented on what a bold move not doing that was as well. *thumbs up ( ... )

I agree that trying to create tension over whether he was going to live or die would be useless, but I guess I wanted to see more of the aftermath. By the time the show picks up, he's fine physically and it's almost like it never happened. I should have remembered that this show doesn't draw out cliffhangers ever.

I really liked this episode as well, and I think the direction and editing on this show are top-notch. Love the sound design as well.

Completely. I adore the sound design too. I'm the sort of person that never notices the sound in shows (I'd be hard pressed to recognize any Who music other than the theme), but every episode of Life, there's a song that I comment on to my husband. I feel sad that my review ended up being more bitching than I really thought about the episode. My nitpicks just kind of took over my review.

I really wish that shows in the US would just run contiguous like they do in the UK, because I didn't know this was back on. Oh, and quit F'ing with the schedules, O High And Mighty Network Honchos! I have a hard enough time remembering what shows are on when as it is!

So when was this episode on?

It was on Wednesday. I don't know what time though. We have a DVR so we never miss anything. We got it soon after Chicklet was born and they kept moving House around. I became rather annoyed and that gave us the push.

You can watch the episodes on Hulu if that's an option for you.

Yeah, we have a DVR too, but I think we ran into a problem taping all the shows we wanted to watch because we kept running into conflicts (and running out of DVR space!). Guess I'll have to add Life to the list!

I know all about running out of space! Hi-def is lovely but it just kills disc space.

I didn't mind how they dealt with Charlie's injury, especially seeing we know as an audience that he is the main character so we *know* he is going to be fine, so why waste time pretending otherwise. What I *did* like was Tidwell + Reese trying to get more information out of Charlie about who shot him and him not giving up even though he knew who it was so he could get revenge himself (BY MELTING DOWN THE BULLET, EPIC CHARLIE... EPIC!)

I imagine though that Bodner shot Charlie not to kill, but to warn him to back off?

And at the end, why did Charlie lie to her?? We know her father was involved. Did Charlie decide the he wasn't central to the plot so she didn't need to know.

I read that the writers are planning a temporary divide between Reese and Crews anyway, and obviously the announcement that Sarah Shahi is four months pregnant is relevant to this.

It wasn't so much that I was looking for tension, but I wanted more personal/conspiracy stuff. I really would not have minded if their was no case this week and it was all about Charlie and the fallout from the shooting.

BY MELTING DOWN THE BULLET, EPIC CHARLIE... EPIC!

I didn't go into this much in my review, but I completely agree! I loved the whole bullet melting and recasting sequence. The whole setup down to the zen tape making a reappearance was awesome. He is just so badass.

I read that the writers are planning a temporary divide between Reese and Crews anyway, and obviously the announcement that Sarah Shahi is four months pregnant is relevant to this.

Ah! Things make a bit more sense. I don't keep up with news of the show, so I had no idea about either of these.

Life isn't the sort of show that deals with fallout so much though. It seems to be very driven narrative wise, and perhaps they felt in the bigger picture that us watching Charlie recover isn't as useful as drip-feeding us more conspiracy stuff over the next few episodes, rather than all at once.

As for Sarah Shahi, I think the news only emerged in the last day or so, o it is relatively new to me as well. But obviously this does mean that they will make Reese scarce for a while, and I believe I read that they were going to do this by emotionally seperating the team, as well as geographically wise, although she will still *be* there and will return.

This is true. Perhaps I should borrow Charlie's zen tape and attempt to live in the moment and enjoy what I have. What I have is a smart, gorgeously put together show that I do enjoy even if it isn't perfect.

I hope that the show is around long enough that we get to see the payoff of the separation. I'm okay with some distance between them, so long as there is a reunion.
