Wow, I forgot how much I like this show.

Rage on, Firefly, rage on.

The Firefly fic out there really just puts me off half the time, so I think I was starting to think about the show in those terms. :P

Oh my god, the way some writer's over romanticize the show/the characters/the 'ships, it just kills me. Sure, easy enough trap to fall into when things get angsty, but gah...

I'm working on your fic again! Right this very second even! Not to get your hopes up, but you might actually get it someday! *facepalm*

Have you read some of it? It just loses something in translation from the show to letters. Aside from the usual bad writers in every fandom.

I honestly don't read much. I really was wondering what you thought was wrong with it. EVERY show seems to lose it in fanfiction so I haven't read very much in...years.

I didn't think you did which is why I was kind of confused that you asked. But you sounded ready to protest. :) I haven't read very much lately myself. Funny, huh? We all write it and then don't read it? Kind of...arrogant in a way? Heh.

But anyhow. I just think people in Firefly especially tend to lose the characterization really quickly. I do it too. It's hard to fit these particular characters into situations people tend to want to fit them into. And a lot of the time I find myself saying, 'Mal would never do that?!' OR 'Mal would never say that!' Mal's a tough nut to capture. It's like he's a square peg and people are trying to write him into nothing but round holes. But like I said, I find myself trying to do it too... :P

I know, right?? That keeps happening to me with AtS, I'm afraid... Every so often I find myself watching it again and remembering why the heck I was so head-over-heels for the show and the characters in the first place. Nothing beats the original.

Anyhoo, hurrah for rekindled show-love! :-D

Srsly. Nobody writes AtS anymore, and if they do, it's all...bad. I know! I watch think, my god why? Why did it have to end?

It's just not right. But those characters are such...characters. Most of them don't fit a good stereotype and yet they're not so complicated that you wouldn't think you wouldn't be able to write them, and yet there they are in all of their glory made crappy in so much fic. *le sigh* Oh well.
