The AU-verses where Wes gets away with Connor and does the single father thing just break my heart, and this is extra breaky since it's a voluntary thing on Angel's part and you can just see the poor guy lurking in the shadows and trying to convince himself it's the right thing to do. But I'll let you away with it because that role-switch concept is simply too neat to pass up. *G* Whole new twist on the 'guardian angel' notion, eh?

The watcher/protector thing kind of came out of nowhere, and like you say, too neat to pass up. :) I think that after chasing them for so long, that Angel would start to get that Wesley wasn't doing it for malicious reasons. Or...you know the part of me that thinks Angel would be logical after awhile. :) And trust his Wes instincts. :D
