Paul Bettany is the hotness. *G* And yes, he's totally the floggy monk. (I've only skimmed the book, but I found the writing style... er, really quite convoluted and thus gave up on it. Heh.)
I second the Annie Proulx glee! I haven't gotten my mitts on 'Close Range' just yet, but I've got 'Bad Dirt' (Her second anthology) about halfway read. She's got such a fantastically unique voice. *grovels a little*
Oh, good, someone agrees with me. :) I was hoping you'd find this post. I'm sure I must find some way to slash him with somebody. ...Or simply worship at his feet. Gah. He's so pretty.
*nods* I heard mixed feelings about the book. Me, I'm just that girl who was like *last* to read Harry Potter, thus the lack of jumping on the Dan Brown wagon. :)
She is so grovel worthy. The lady's got grit I tell you what. ;) I've only got two stories left, and I'm putting off finishing them because I just don't know if I can take the BBM right now. *makes whimpery noises*
*evil glare* thank goodness LJ and the connection aren't conspiring against me for the moment. :P
Lately the idea of 'Master & Commander' slash has seemed like a good thing. *laugh* Don't ask me where the heck that came from.
Bwah! And I actually read Harry Potter before the entire world caught on that it was good stuff, so there ya go. XD I'll pick up any book once, but I've been known to put 'em right back down when I don't like the writing.
Excellent way of putting it. She's sure as hell not flowery, but her descriptions are weirdly apt. (Oh gosh, I bawled the first time I read that story. We're talking 'What do you mean Gandalf fell off the bridge?!' type tears. *laugh* But it's such a beautiful little story that I keep re-reading it.)
The boat movie!!! You know you wanted M & C slash from the moment I said that. *g* I think I wanted slash when I saw that movie too. They're so pretty with the music playing and stuff. Aww.
Yes, exactly. *nods* Meep! Oh, you're just going to make me put it off longer! Hee. I'll get to it eventually though.
Also? I have made no progress on SSLAP. This is a plot point I am entirely stuck on and ready to skip to the end to figure out what happens. ;P But that's me and my crazy skipping around writing. ;P We won't do that, really.
Yes, there are tons of little flags sticking out and desperately torn bits of magazine to mark pages when I didn't have anything with me on the plane. :) I keep finding things where I'm thinking, 'hey, I could use something like' *nods* Such good examples of how to think about writing. *nods*
