Another check off my list. I decided I kind of liked the style of my last Hermes hymn, so I'm going to use it as a model for my first set of hymns ( Read more... )

That's good! Let me know if you write anything, I'd love to read it.

And yeah, I was having a long discussion about publication with Michael Dangler on one of my posts. I am seriously considering it.

Have you ever considered writing these hymns to a meter? Possibly a traditional one (though I don't know which that would be). I'd love to see how that would work, but I admit I am a bit of a poetry buff.

I think poetry may be a bit beyond my creative capabilities; I'll leave that to you since you're so much better at it than I am. :-)

Beyond that, I'm not sure there is a traditional poetic meter like the Norse have. The Greek hymns I'm most familiar with are the Homeric and Orphic and a few others here and there, and my writing seems to be fairly well in line with those (the "I sing of" line I begin with comes from the Homeric Hymns).

Of course I'm not quite as knowledgable of ancient Greek literature as I probably should be (off to the library with me :-)), so I could be wrong.
