But even a cursory google search, like the OP suggested, shows me that I was wrong and most clinicians do not see a major difference between the two terms.

The best I can figure is that people make the mistake because "psychopath" contains "psycho" so they assume that means crazy. People commenting on that article were able to point out other errors on the psychopath section, but no one has yet pointed out it doesn't mean crazy. But still, there is a ton of readily available information to tell you that's not true. And if you're going to be writing an article on how wrong everyone else is, you'd think you would want to make sure you got all your facts right first.
