Thinking Over Christmas Plans

I know, it seems pretty early for that, but if I choose to go back to Massachusetts one last time, I probably should decide that soon.

This trip was initially canceled when Renee and I wanted to get out to Oregon as fast as possible; now that we've decided, barring any divine intervention (and it wouldn't be the first time that happened), as fast as ( Read more... )

Since I've seen recently how much it costs to fly from Portland to Boston (and I don't fly), there will not be much in the way of visiting from me. I won't ever have that much money to throw around on a regular basis ( ... )

Sounds like, if you're going to do this, Christmas would be the time to go. Except, I worry about the sleeping arrangements, and I worry about putting yourself out too much. If, you know, putting yourself out so much would greatly benefit *them*, then I could see going, since it'll be a while before you get back again. Only, it sounds an awful lot like your sacrifice won't be appreciated in equal proportion. I totally get that, and it's totally not worth it. (Listen to what I say, not what I do.)

Wish I had an answer for you, wish I could make trips to MA easy for *everyone*.

And, I know you've told me before, but the town you grew up in? Starts with a W, ends in Y?

Good old Wayland.

You do have a point, whether I show up or not might make very little difference to them, whereas, if its anything like last year was, it might have a very huge, very negative impact on my health (illness and stress both have a habit of attacking my respiratory system, I understand suffocation, yes). It may not really be worth it. And hell, maybe if I wait a few years there could always be less people living in my mother's house (probably not, but there is that possibility) and better guest accommodations could be available.

In my head, it was Wellesley. Close enough, I think. ;)

No easy answer there, though suffocation is bad. There will always be good reasons not to go and there will always be the insane, good-for-nothing guilt making you want to go back... or maybe I'm projecting.
