gentle_gamer, andrea_lambda, and parmonster have been going to Planet Granite recently, and have invited Quinn and I in the past but we've been really busy, sick, or otherwise felt we couldn't make it. I wanted to go, and so finally lastnight, we made it. There were actually three of us new, and three experienced people who were allowed to belay (one Joyce's flatmate, who was just ( Read more... )

There are 5.5s at Planet Granite. I run out of upper body strength so find myself in positions where I can't just pull myself up any more. Frustrating.

Anyway I'll be back over there in just over a week so will hope to be climbing at least once or twice while I'm there. I've signed up for a course back here in Leeds at the local wall in the hope of learning some technique! I also have an awful lot of weight to lose before I'm any good.

As I understand it, they constantly change the routes. There were no 5.5s that I saw at all lastnight. Two each 5.1-5.4, no 5.5s, then 5.6+

It's just chance that there's currently no 5.5's at PG. There was a rather interesting and memorable one when we first got started, but it also happened to be right next to where they do the belay classes, so I figured they took it out for that reason (since they haven't put a new one in that spot since then)

Oooh. We haven't done climbing in years, rather miss it! Upper body strength here is rather lacking due to whoever designed this body putting all the muscles on the bottom half.
