Actually, the Brothers vs. Lovers debate is practically weekly with my friends. Half of us go for Brothers, and half of us want the slash.

I'm for Brothers.

QUite frankly, I see the brotherly affection in almost all fandoms, not the slash. Not that I can't appreciate and understand that viewpoint but I see the innocence of brotherly or friendly affection instead. And that is what Tolkien intended, I'm sure, considering the time it was written. Go with what you feel.

Yes, I really don't see the Hobbit slash or most slash. Lego-slash I see a bit more... but the Hobbits are really pretty innocent.
