You could always just block the applications or hide them.

I do. But the requests to join them still show up even if the wall posts about them don't.

You could also just ask kindly to the people to stop sending them, stating your not into those apps.

A few people ask me to make a fb page, saying how much fun it is. But I just say "Thanks, but not onto that".
