[Super Junior] misplaced nostalgia, pg, gen, kyuhyun/heechul

Remembering days when you weren't there.
Heechul pulls out the picture because he wants everyone to see that time when he had gotten the j-rock hair just right, the first time he really played around with make-up and styling products to achieve the perfect look. It's a laugh now, of course, with how much styling they go through for every performance and every filming, but this is back before debut, before hairspray and foundation and eyeliner become the norm.
Kyuhyun smiles when he sees the picture because Heechul-hyung is very much himself--skinnier than he is now, but with the same attitude, the same curve of his spine and tilt of his head. But Kyuhyun's attention is caught by Donghae, who's posing next to Heechul, painfully young and fresh. Kyuhyun has never seen Donghae with his hair like that, doesn't remember Donghae before the years of training and debut etched themselves onto his face, in his eyes.
Kyuhyun remembers that he's different, that he doesn't have the same history. The reminder is bittersweet in his mouth, and he licks his lips. "Who's the foot belong to?" he asks in lieu of dwelling, pointing at a leg someone off-camera had kicked into the viewfinder at the last moment.
"Guess," Heechul tells him, all lazy eyes and relish. He grins expectantly.
Silently, Kyuhyun studies the foot for a moment, considers the relative size and the sock and the jeans. The answer suddenly seems easy, as he recalls the stories Donghae and Sungmin and Hyukjae have told him of their training days. "Yunho-hyung?" he asks, glancing sideways at Heechul.
Heechul leans back into the couch, fingering the picture with a careless fondness. He radiates smugness as he nods, eyes not leaving Kyuhyun's. "Absolutely right," he says. "You know us well."
Somehow, Kyuhyun no longer feels as distanced.
He smiles too and drapes himself sideways over Heechul's legs. "Want to play Starcraft, hyung?"
