Dilemma
“Get your hand out of my pocket, Syuusuke,” Ryoma said flatly, giving his boyfriend an annoyed look. “We’re in public.”
“It’s a concert,” Fuji replied reasonably, flashing his usual smile because he knew it’d only irk Ryoma more. “People are expected to act indecently. Especially us,” he added, “since we’re in Aozu.”
Ryoma didn’t even try to wrap his mind around that logic, instead squirming around to close his left hand around Fuji’s right wrist and jerk the offending appendage from where it’d been tucked snugly in Ryoma’s back pocket. He glared. “We shouldn’t be attracting attention then,” he snapped, “since we’re supposed to be here incognito.”
Blue eyes appraised him, clad in a dark blue T-shirt and black jeans, a red baseball cap pulled low over his face. “Actually,” Fuji said mildly, “I think you stand out. Your outfit’s so…”
“Normal?”
“Colorful. Out of place.” Fuji beamed at him. “Plus, you’re sure to be noticed since we’re in the front row anyway.” He glanced around the crowded outdoor arena, overflowing with excitable fans all noticeably dressed from head-to-toe in black. “You’ll be lucky if Eiji doesn’t jump off the stage to hug you.”
Ryoma snorted and crossed his arms. “You’re the one who got us tickets,” he grumbled. “You should’ve thought about that.”
Fuji laughed and tugged at the brim of his cap. “Eiji’s the one who gave me tickets,” he said, and Ryoma rolled his eyes because, really, there went the “incognito” bit of the entire scheme. Fuji chuckled at his expression and Ryoma thought that it must’ve been through practice that he was so good at distinguishing his boyfriend and bandmate’s voice from hundreds of others as a collective scream rose from the crowd behind them.
Cap to Bin had just run onto stage, clad in all black as well, Eiji’s hair bright as he jumped and waved and called out to the crowd. Momo whooped and grinned, directing a wink at Ryoma, whom he’d spotted easily. Inui, Kaidoh, and Taka were more sedate, waving and smiling at the crowd. That would change when Taka got a hold of the drumsticks, Ryoma assumed, and was distracted when he caught a glimpse of movement from the corner of his eye.
He turned and gave Fuji a blank stare. “Syuusuke,” he said, eyeing the device in the older boy’s hands. “What are you doing?”
On stage, Eiji hollered an enthusiastic hello to the audience, welcoming them to Cap to Bin’s “Dress in All Black” concert, and they’d already done Red and Yellow and wasn’t it exciting? Blue was next, he added, picking up his guitar and flashing the crowd a thumbs-up.
Fuji smiled serenely at Ryoma and pressed a few buttons on the recorder. “Bootlegs,” he replied cheerfully. “We are rivals, after all.”
Fuji Syuusuke, Ryoma thought half in disbelief and half in reluctant awe, was absolutely shameless.
