Very oily chinchilla

I just bought a new wheel for one of my chins.  I left town for a few days and while I was gone, the wheel was excessively squeeky, so my roommate decided to oil it.  I usually use a little spay cooking oil on the back, however, my roommate couldn't find it and dumped regular cooking oil all over the back and inside the wheel ( Read more... )

Keep dustbathing, and change the dust more frequently.

I'd also find a somewhat more observant pet sitter the next time you go out of town. Oil on the inside of a wheel that an animal is going to run on... was he hoping to watch your chin slide all over the place?

Thanks for the reply. I have been dustbathing him frequently, and I will definitely change the bath often.

My roommate said that she was trying to oil the inside where the axel rod meets the wheel and she thought she cleaned up the inside of the wheel well enough. I am not sure what she was thinking, I always just spray the back with a little PAM and it is good enough to get rid of the squeaking.

I'll be moving out in a month or so, so I won't have to worry about this the next time I go out of town.
