I would venture out to Gwinnett Place Mall and enter the glass doors into Software, Etc, my haven, my palace of pc bliss. Wall to wall pc software and pc games. And because they were kind, a small rack of strange and alien apple products. There were no console games, though towards the very end, they did add a single 3' wide strip of Nintendo ( Read more... )

I know how you feel. Looking at the shelves and feeling a sense of loss. I just started playing FFX again and had forgotten how much I loved the game. I have forgotten so much of the story it's almost fresh again.....almost.....sigh

we need a battle cry.

I HATE ACTION ADVENTURE GAMES

well, you know me.. I'd rather *gasp* go outside than play most console games.

I want another Gabriel Knight game! Like the first one! Tim and Jane, why have you forsaken us! (Ok, mostly Jane.)

GABRIEL KNIGHT!!!!!!

Oh, I *LOVED* those games! Unfortunately, I could never get the second one to run properly on the machine I had at the time, and I was never able to find a copy of the third. Plus, my current machine, with XP loaded, won't run the original at all without crashing either the OS or the game. :-(

The second game was arguably my favorite followed(?) closely by the first. The third was ok but I didn't like the graphics and Tim hammed it up a bit much for his accent.

I agree... my reflexes aren't what they need to be for most modern games. Besides which, I don't like cramping hands and carpal tunnel. :-P

I actually bought the last King's Quest game, Mask of Eternity and it was most definitely an "action RPG." I was... unimpressed. I also checked out "Fable" for the X-Box which was enjoyable, but boring after a bit since it too was an action RPG and it was basically all combat with few to no puzzles.

As for point-and-click games, the genre has survived by migrated to the web via flash-based games. Check out Jay Is Games; they have a lot of games of ALL types listed with reviews, including quite a lot of P&Cers.
