A small flub up with Portalocity not only meant a delay in getting to Fandom, it also meant getting stuck on a planet where the sulphur content in the atmosphere was slightly elevated in comparison to Earth

Liara... still wasn't completely sure what she was doing with herself. She had tried the causeway multiple times, and then she had tried to contact this 'Portalocity' business, but nothing so far had gotten her home.
Thusly dejected, she slunk back towards her room, rubbing the back of her neck and feeling rather more sorry for herself than she might be comfortable admitting to anyo--
Matt turned to the sound of the voice entering the room and letting his senses take stock of... Well, someone who apparently didn't have a human heartbeat.
"Well, I'm most likely your roommate," Matt said with a grin and extending his hand for a handshake. "That is if this is room 303 and I didn't open the wrong door. Matt Murdock."
"Oh," Liara said. She... hadn't quite grasped the concept of handshakes yet - which might have more to do with her being Liara than her being an alien - so she simply stared at him helplessly. "I saw your name on the board."
"I'm assuming that was at the picnic," Matt replied as he let his hand hang out there for another second or two before awkwardly letting it fall to his side. "I was supposed to be there to kick off the second summer session but I got a bit delayed because of Portalocity. Are you new this term or did you start here at the beginning of the summer?"
