So for one of my online college classes, I'm taking Human Reproductive Biology. (Just for extra credits, You have to have somewhere around 10 other credit classes in order to graduate.)  I looked at some other students introductions, Most are older and have kids and the only one around my age is this 21 year old girl that has a two year old and is ( Read more... )

i don't think it's weird at all. the human body is infinitely fascinating, and knowing more about your reproductive organs/cycle is never a bad thing!!!

Like you I'd take a class like that because it's interesting to learn about how the body works. With pregnancy I'd want to know everything I would be expecting to happen, I don't know why women keep it so hush-hush. I'm certainly not offended by the not-so-nice stuff that the body goes through (although other's are so that's probably why pregnancy is glamorised instead). I have this in my bookmarks to remind me some of the reasons why I don't want kids lol!: http://skepchick.org/2010/02/what-pregnant-women-wont-tell-you-ever/ The comments are interesting.

No weird at all. It is basic biology and even if you're not going to experience it in your own body, knowledge is always good and interesting to have.

I occasionally lurk on pregnancy/birthing blogs to remind myself of what I DO NOT WANT.

Same here. That and shitmykidsruined is a good one to visit every now and then, considering my usual response to most of their submissions is "Oh that little fucker is dead" I'm pretty sure its working.

Well, bodies, and the ways they work, are always interesting IMO. Plus there is the fact that the more you know how human reproduction works, the more you know about how to make it NOT work. I always feel more confidence in something when I understand what it is supposed to be doing, and it may make it easier to chose the method of baby-proofing that suits you best.

And may I say I am envious of the multitude of choices young women have today? When I became sexually active in the early 70's, the choices were The Pill (version 1), The Pill (version 2), Diaphram, Condom, Rhythm (also known as Parenthood). Even though some things can be frustratingly unavailable (like sterilization), and we seem to be moving backwards in other areas, things are still a lot better than they used to be.
