I am leaving for New York City in exactly a week. Who of my LJ friends have been there? Any places to recommend? It is such a huge city and I only have 4 days to explore. I want to eat pizza, go to Chinatown, see Ground Zero, and get awesome knockoff designer purses cheap. I honestly don't care if I don't go clubbing really, I just want to get ( Read more... )

Canal st. has the best knock offs.. the street market stretches for block.. there are also some great boutiques in manhattan off the beaten path but theyre kindof scattered all over... um yer best bet would to be contact people in nyc. ive been there 5 times for various reasons, there is this great brunch cafe called anytime in williamsburgh...

well of course central park! how long are you going to be there? if you're there for a short time i'd be ashamed of you if you spent it clubbing ;p.

hrmm anything else i'd wanna see. statue of liberty maybe? brooklyn bridge, guggenheim (although i've heard it was overrated), chinatown, little italy, etc!

greenwich village is awesome. lots of cute shops and what not.

you should talk to joe vor-tech. he lived in NYC for years and he knows all about what's cool and what's not.

I've been there once for a few days....since I wasn't of age though I spent most of the time being a 'tourist' I guess. If anything, I would recommend going to Chinatown and trying to catch at least one comedy show somewhere. If you go to Times Square they always have loads of people passing out flyers for upcoming comedy shows at nearby venues.
