That is really lovely. You hit the Alan POV right on the head, there, and fleshed out so much of the first book I think I'm going to have to read it again - the book and this fic. Excellent story, thank you for sharing! <3

Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad Alan's POV worked for you, there's so much of him that is hidden that I didn't know if I had written him well. :)

Fantastic fic! You have a great Alan voice--and Nick, and Olivia. I particularly loved the interaction between Alan and Olivia: you did a great job showing her at a good time but still not normal. Alan and his aunt's family was heartrending. Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad you liked the interaction between Alan and Olivia, I wished we had seen more of them together in the first book, because their relationship always intrigued me - obviously, they must have cared about each other, but Nick had to be a serious bone of contention between them. Thank you for reading and commenting. :)

Loved it! The characters all rang true, and I especially enjoyed how you showed Alan wavering. Because he must have; no one gets that decisive and diamond-edged without having questioned and despaired at some point.

I'm going to have to go read the books again, you've made me miss them!

The starting point of this fic was to show Alan's doubts and how he came to be the person we see in the books - because as you said, no one can be that determined all the time! And Nick has to be very difficult to love.

Good reread of the books, and thank you for your lovely comment!

This is really lovely. You captured both Alan and Nick and their very complicated and subtle relationship so very well. Thank you so much!
