Reading this is calming, like Riza is to Ed.

Oh, Ed -- oh, everyone. This is beautiful. You have the Resembool kids down to a T: Ed with his thoughts and his restlessness and his inability to talk much about his own feelings, and Al gentle and patient and always keenly observing in the background, and Winry helping as best she knows how and squabbling with Ed all the while. Hawkeye's visit, too, I loved, even if I assume she must have had some more official excuse for trekking out all that way too; the comparison to Al is apt, and I like her obliquely stated compassion. And basically, I love this -- it's such a good story of gradual healing!

I'm so glad you liked it! We know Ed is going to be okay, because the manga tells us so, but there has to be some transition period. Ed, as always, is too stubborn and impatient to recognize this. :) Thank you for your comment!

Oh this was gorgeous! Love how Riza knows just what to say, and the relationship between Ed, Winry & Al is very well played out too

Thank you for reading and commenting! For some reason, I love Ed & Riza interacting, so this scene was a delight to write. And Ed, Winry & Al own my soul. :D

Excellent! Well done, thoughtful and mature fic, in character, believable and an excellent read. Please do write more! I'm always on the look out for people who can write good, longer pieces - Bravo!

Thank you so much for your comment! I never know where inspiration is going to strike, but I certainly hope I'll find more to write in this fandom - FMA is an old favorite of mine. :)

I never know where inspiration is going to strike,

Ain't that the truth!

I'm very new to the fandom and if you'd told me a year ago, I'd be writing and reading fanfiction from an anime, I'd have thought you were nuts. LOL! It's been a delight to find this fandom and discovering the little jewels hidden throughout it. Thank you for being one. :)

Lol, anime/manga are what got me to discover fanfiction, though my primary fandom for the last few years is a TV fandom. FMA was actually my very first fic - but it was written in French and not even typed, and only one person read it. :)

I saw that you friended me - thank you! I don't always friend back right away, but then I realized that I had read a fic of yours (the one about Ed after Baschool) and saw a fanart of yours that I liked, but I didn't comment because I'm shy about commenting, especially in a new fandom. Friended you back right now. :)
