✿ Thirty-Sixth Ink Drop ✿ - [Action]

[Miyabi had been busy these past few days. Despite the insanity of the war - she had lit incense and said a prayer for those who lost their lives (even if they had been returned already or not, respects had to be paid) - and those few days she…could not remember at all. This was her second “Christmas” in Luceti, and she had presents to give to her ( Read more... )

[Asch will be heading home from the shop probably around the time that Miyabi is done talking to Luke, so he stops outside the house, wondering what the heck the deer is doing there. Star is balanced on his shoulder, peering quizzically at the other creature.]

[Asch lifts his arm, turning his wrist this way and that to get a look and feel for the bracelet there. He's never worn anything like it, so it's a little weird to have it there. He might have to fiddle with it and find a better place for it, but is the location significant? Will that just insult her more? ...Ugh, life was a lot easier when he was only spending time with people he paid to keep around. Where was Ginji when he needed him?]

I don't want anything to do with more religions. I've had enough of them already. You shouldn't feel obliged to give me anything, anyway.

Then don't think of it as that! It's really just a charm to give you strength and protection. [So she can one day stop worrying about your sorry behind, Asch.] Don't you have charms like that back home? Or even just good luck charms?

...You really are an idiot sometimes, hehe.

[HE DOESN'T NEED DRECK LIKE YOU WORRYING- except he wouldn't say that to her. He shrugs a shoulder idly, sitting down in a chair and looking disgruntled. He's not an idiot.]

There's no point in putting your faith in luck. Not when people would rather use the Score.

[That disgruntled face always makes her giggle. |D Rocking lightly on the balls of her feet, the little painter has to think for a moment on how best to say what she felt. She didn't want to push her faith on anyone, especially the one who taught her not to.]

Mm...I think it's better to have faith in something rather than nothing at all. You just have to make sure not to overdo it, or it won't seem as inspiring when something really good happens.

[...Did she just laugh at him 8| Dammit, Miyabi.]

Faith has no meaning for me. Nothing good's come of it, so what's the point in believing? Better to just focus on accomplishments and leave faith to the people with normal lives.

[Miyabi listens carefully, and looks down, wringing her hands together uncomfortably. She wanted to say he was wrong, that many good things could come out of believing in certain things sometimes, but, but--]

You believed in Amaterasu, though, when she was still here...didn't you? [Please don't say you didn't. You'll really upset her.]

[Asch glances sidelong at her, focusing on her expression for a moment. It's not like he wants to offend her or something, but why should he shift his beliefs - or lack thereof - to suit her? That would be even more wrong. Besides...]

How the hell should I know? She wasn't my god. I assumed she was because that's what you called her, and there wasn't any proof that she wasn't. I believed she existed because I saw her. That's not the same as believing in her, though.

[Miyabi hunches up her shoulders, going quiet for some time. She doesn't really know what to say, and she's beginning to feel as small as she was. Sure, Asch had some truth to his words, but she just couldn't understand how someone could just live their life not believing in anything. To her it seemed...not wrong, but odd. Different.

She always believed in Ammy and her other gods because she cherished them and the world they existed in, but this wasn't the world they existed in, and Amaterasu wasn't here any more, and...did her duty transcend to different worlds? If things and people didn't really die, then--]

...I'm sorry. I-I have to go now, I don't feel so good...

Don't bullshit me. You're leaving because you don't like what I'm saying.

[He hates it when people do that. Why lie to others, or yourself? Especially if you're going to go around claiming to be a "friend".

This is why he doesn't bother trusting people- sooner or later a differing opinion will ruin everything.

Just like Van... just like everyone else.]

Of course I don't like it! Your beliefs are different than mine, I can see that now, but what do you want me to do about it, Asch?! I won't shove my faith into your face because you taught me not to, but I'm not going to just stop doing what I do either because you or whoever else doesn't like it!

[She huffs, swallowing the lump in her throat and trying to calm herself. Her aura was already a blistering red, and she really didn't want this to become a shouting match.] If I'm the only one who ends up really believing in Amaterasu...even if she's gone, then that's fine. I won't like it, but I'll keep painting her. If you don't believe either, then that's fine too. But I'm not stopping!

...Do what you want with your present, I don't care. [Miyabi bites her lip, bows her head with a frown, and makes to go.]

[Asch scowls, crossing his arms and leaning back with an angry "hmph". He doesn't bother to watch her go, or try to stop her; he's really not in the mood for some religious debate, not when they're both so apparently immobile.

It's not like he asked her to stop painting! ...Goddammit...]
