•Monday•

He hated having a cold. He couldn’t taste anything he ate and he couldn’t do much because of the migraine. What was more annoying is that he had to miss rehearsals, something he could get killed for.

So when his mother told him that he had a visitor, he became very excited. It didn’t matter who it was; he thought that civilization had forgotten him and his valuable contributions to it. He sat up eagerly in his bed, anticipating the person who opened his bedroom door.

“Oh hey Inoo-kun,” said Ryutaro, not even bothering to shut the door behind him. “I just came by to grab the book you borrowed from Daiki,”

He approached the desk and took a hardbound volume from the pile. He waved the book over his head. “Don’t worry, I know the way out,” he said, and shut the door.

Inoo still sat up in his bed with his huge, unfazed smile. It was either he still expected someone to come, or he was too stunned to move.

•Tuesday•

Despite his previous disappointment, Inoo was still eager for visitors. After all, he did visit his friends when they were sick, so he expected to see at least one person.

“Kei, your friend Kota is here,” said his mother. A few moments later, the scrawny figure of Yabu entered the room. Inoo smiled, although not as much as he did before.

“Inocchi, how are you feeling?” he asked, opening the huge body bag slung over his shoulder.

“Better, now that you’re here,” he replied a bit too enthusiastically. Yabu’s smile mirrored pity for the boy in the bed.

“Well, since I am your mother, it is my duty---,” he took out papers form the bag, “---to ensure you keep up with schoolwork.” Yabu handed Inoo a three-inch thick pile. “I had all your school friends gather what you’ll need to make up for your absences!” he said with an expectant smile. “Isn’t this fun?”

Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the number. “Ah, sorry Inoo, we have practice now. Get well soon!” he said, running out the door.

•Wednesday•

The next time his mother notifies him of a visitor, he knows what to do. The trick was to not let the person think that he is too excited. He lay in his bed, facing his bedside table. A few seconds later, Chinen entered with a box of cake in one hand, a bag of treats in the other.

“Hi Inoo-chan!” Chinen exclaimed, setting the cake down on the table. “Feeling better?”

Inoo nodded, keeping the tactic in his mind.

“Well, how are things? I brought cake!” said Chinen. Inoo muttered a response, “Uh, sure, whatever,” He thought to himself, Wow, this tactic is effective, and buried his head under the covers. In doing so, he didn’t see Chinen’s eyes fill with tears, nor did he see the younger boy clench his fist.

“Is this the way you treat someone who is concerned for you?!” he yelled, and slammed the door behind him.

“Wha--?”

•Thursday•

He was close to crying. He didn’t want to hurt Chinen, but his tactic yesterday was a total fluke. He was so depressed that he didn’t even call his mother to pick up the cake. It still lay untouched on his table.

By around 4PM, Hikaru dropped by. He poked his head through the half-open door and kept his body behind it.

“Yo,” he said, glancing around the room. His hands stretched towards the table. “Just getting the cake, Chinen told me to,” He took the cake with both hands and slowly, ever so slowly, said goodbye through the slight opening .

•Friday•

He woke up with the same feeling as yesterday. No, it wasn’t the same. He was crying.

It’s not fair, he thought, as the tears formed in his eyes. He might be suffering from a normal cold, yes. But not even a simple call came. Hell, if all of JUMP came over his cold would have been gone three days ago. Now, he felt totally empty. His sickness not only crushed his physical immunities, it also seeped away his emotional strengths; his will to keep going. He felt devastated. He was also agitated. He wanted to throw all his possessions up against the wall. He wanted to break anything he could put his hands on. But even his extreme anger wasn’t enough to power him up. In the end, all that remained was the self pity and the horrible emptiness. He buried his head under the pillows.

He tried to shut out everything. He just wanted to contain his emotions in a box and throw it out the window. Silently, his sobbing grew in intensity. The hot tears splashed down his face onto the covers. He was crying too much that he was oblivious to the slight shift of weight on the side of the bed. Only when the person stroked his head did he look up.

“You-you came…”

Daiki ran his fingers through Inoo’s jet black hair. “Of course, what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t?”

Inoo smiled and hugged Daiki as all his pains flowed out through his tears, soaking Daiki’s sleeve.

Lo, and behold. XD
