EEEK!! i'm so freakin' excited!! i just called the chihuahua lady and she said that the two litters are only 5 days apart! which means i can basically piack whatever puppy i want and it would only be a week in the difference of me getting a black and white one (from the first litter) or a tri-colored or white/caramel one (from the second litter). congrats, bring a camera hehe :) Its going to be so hard picking one when you see all the cute itsy bitsy chi's running around!!!make sure you see them interacting with each other, and pick one that is calm, not shaking and hiding in the corner from you, and that isn't you know, like biting and pushing and acting overly agressive to his littermates when playing. stuff like that you probably already know.my ollie was in a litter that was taken in by a worker from a rescue because the breeder had been injured and her daughter had broken her spinal cord in a car accident. They were all pretty timid and scared at the time because of being you know, taken from their enviornment and their mommy(who died in the accident, driving home from the vet, make sure if your driving on main roads to have them in a kennel OR a doggie car seat please!!). But I picked ollie, and he took awhile to warm up to people without shaking excessively and stuff. Books suggest to not pick the runt of the liter who is very scared and timid because as cute as it is, ( ... )

that's a really good idea!! i will definitely do that.

i'm not sure when the litter was born, but she said they'll be ready around the 4th or 5th of sept. i have a feeling they will probably be about 7 weeks then, so i'm going to ask her if i can wait another week or two. i don't want to bring him home any earlier than 8 weeks. plus, a friend of mine is coming over that week and will be here until the 9th so i want to wait until she leaves, too. hopefully it will all work out as planned!

hehe, i actually found your puppy's website before i joined this community because i googled "chewbacca chihuahua" and then i realized you were in this community.

i don't think i'm going to get the tri-colored. i'm leaning towards the white/caramel ones but of course, i have to see them first. and i'm hoping to get a boy, so yours will be the only chi girl :) and she's a very gorgeous girl!! maybe our chewbaccas can have chewbaccan babies someday ;)

i think you're awesome for coming up with the same name as me!! (even though you actually got to use it first!). i thought of the name months and months ago, i just thought, "chihuahua... chewbacca... chewbacca chihuahua!" and i knew i had to use it :) i like funy, unique names.

anyway i'm blabbing... i hope you're not offended that i'm naming my chi chewbacca too... i swear i had the name picked out forever!!

Make sure you observe their behavior with each other and with you. Here's a really basic summary: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1671&articleid=842

Also, know that the runt rule does not always apply. The runt of my house mate's chi's last litter was/is the most bold and outgoing one of the lot. She was the first to explore the outside world, figure out the stairs, etc. The largest one of the litter - my doofy boy Nova - was (and still is) the most shy and timid one.

Definitely, the personality will be the most important difference between a dog that suits you well and a dog whose lifestyle won't mesh with yours. My girl was a rescue so I didn't have any choice in the matter, but when the time comes to get her a sister I'm definitely going to look for a more outgoing personality for the household. :)
