I don't think you've calculated enough tax on the tea price. Restaurant tax in the city of Chicago is 11%, thus it would be $1.93 per person for a with-tax total of $19.43. :3 You should update your figures--I don't want you to have to cover that extra dollar per-person!!
DAMN, the website I found said it was much lower, and when I tried to call the cafe back for confirmation, she wasn't there any more. I'm just going to call and get an exact figure, this is a little ridiculous.
ALSO! If we're split half and half, how do we feel about those who want to do tea getting a tea reservation and those who don't just the regular reservation and spend more time in the exhibits when the Tea Party gets tea? Does that fracture it too much, or would that be OK to people who don't want to spend more than $16? I realize a lot of people are going in couples, so that $16 up there is really $32 for your household, and that $37 is really $74!
I think that would be a nice option--particularly because, as you mentioned, anyone going as a couple might find it too far out of their price range. I think personally I could be persuaded to go for tea just because I'm an Alice and ♥ tea pretty hardcore, but that's with accepting that it is pricey.
I'd be really surprised if they told you that the tax on their tea was less. I haven't been charged less than 11% on non-grocery-store food in years. Best of luck getting a firm price from the planetarium!!
i'm going w/ my husband and might choose the $16 option just because we are cheap and for 2 people the prices get kind fo steep :) Though i do maybe want to see one of the shows? I'm hoping i can get a pass for the Adler at my local library, but that is very hit/miss.
Hey, I'm a maybe since I don't know hours for my job yet and won't soon, and I've got membership with them so I really don't want to be paying essentially double. How do I factor into this though?
No.... I mean I am a member of the Adler. I get in free, the shows are free. I'm not sure about high tea though. I don't want to have to end up paying for a show when you do a reservation, or extra if I do indeed get a discount for high tea.
