Well, It's been a while. I keep thinking I'm going to sit a bit and write something witty and entertaining to catch up, and then I get sucked into reading other people's journals and the next thing I know, I'm out of time and inspiration. I have a really baaaad memory so you would think I would at least type something for myself every once in a ( Read more... )

*hugs* I found 2 jobs to apply for tonight and did so. They'd both be better options than fisheries.

Hey, hi; you're moving to Everett? I'm in Sequim, on the Olympic Peninsula, just a couple of hours away across the Edmunds-Kingston ferry.

Congratulations for your daughter's engagement; that's wonderful!

Boy, do I hear ya about feeling depressed about one's messy cluttered house but not having the 'spoons' to deal with it. I think men don't really *get* that because they weren't raised to think of housekeeping as a primary responsibility (let alone as a crucial measure of their social rank and value as a person) - therefore if the house is a wreck, a guy might find it unaesthetic and uncomfortable, but he won't think it's proof to the world that he's a failure as a man. We 'women of a certain age' mostly were raised to think that, and even though our rational minds know it's bullshit, we still can fall into thinking that way all too easily. Especially just before the holidays, eh ( ... )

Seconding what elenbarathi wrote about the pressure women feel about having a clean house. Real friends understand!

Thanks for the update on your life, and congratulations on the impending wedding!

Ya know, my mom always told me, and it's true, a man is judged on his job and a woman on her house. It doesn't matter if she's got a PhD and works at the top level in her field, jet setting about the world making Big Deals; if her house is a wreck then she's a failure,...

I'm kinda diggin' turning 50, I get away with a lot of shit cuz now I'm an eccentric old lady instead of a crazy person, =-D Also, the menopause rocks! I never had a problem; just one day, no more period. And it's BLISS!!!

I love my horses, they are such personalities!!

That was better than a letter stuffed into a Christmas card! I am glad you got Eric's eyes fixed. (I had a good laugh at his expense when I read that - but don't tell him I did!)

He still doesn't 'see' what's going on around him,... Unless, you know, it's boobs. Then he sees those just fine!
