I finally did the good thing and read up on all characters I knew nothing about. Is it just me or are ladies fighting ladies with similar powers/backgrounds a lot this round?

I really want to read Rosemary and Rue. That is all.

I'm reading it right now. Quite enjoyable, and the world-building is interesting. I'm reserving judgement until I'm done with it, but liking it so far!

I greatly enjoyed both Rosemary and Rue and the follow up A Local Habitation.

Ooh, the Harry Potter match is rather sad, but can't beat Minnie. And Alanna should be able to plow through Lyra just as she has through all her other competitors.

Morgan Le Fay vs Susan will be interesting! I'm giving it to Susan because I feel like she is more... versatile. Like, Morgan is very archetypal, so her actions are rather predictable, while Susan has access to the epic tropes and yet can be unexpected. I don't know, it made sense in my head. Sort of.

GRANNY AND CORDELIA FOREVER!

I dunno. Lyra is remarkably resourceful, and has no qualms about fighting dirty. Alanna I see as more predictable.

I agree, and I think in a more loosely structured confrontation, Lyra could be formidable and easily underestimated. But I think in a cage match, direct force backed by divine favor is likely to fare better, unless it's up against outright magic.

Interesting, I chose Lyra and Door because I am not familiar with their opponents and both are getting whupped. Not the only ones, I would have thought Thursday Next has the advantage of being an agent who knows when she is taking on fictional characters; and Honor Harrington, the starship captain, is being drummed out!

Both Granny Weatherwax and Eowyn can take an injury, but Eowyn would have to pull out to go to the Halls of Healing while Granny would use an injury for her advantage.

I'm not buying that SpecOps agent and Crimea vet Thursday Next (even without tools she gets after Eyre Affair) can't take teenage Meg Murry in a cage match.
