I started playing last night, and already I am dead of pretty.

Er on that note, this is an open letter:

Dear...everyone but a select few,

Between NaNoWriMo and FFB (a.k.a, FFXII) please don't expect to see much of me this month. eep!

Hugs and Kisses
Cnd

And now my initial thoughts. Really not spoilertastic, and largely about technical, mechanical stuff )

ffxii, videogames

1. Vonn's abs are totally sprayed on. And the shadowing on their faces makes them look a bit dirty. Am I the only one unimpressed? BUT, LOL, the guy who's taking the Emporer's place? (Can't remember his name.) I've named him Vidal. As in Vidal Sassoon. Why can't my hair be that good ( ... )

1. Yeah, I agree about the shadowing. There are times when Vaan's nose looks a little odd, too, from one particular angle. Then again, maybe he IS dirty. He's a street kid, after all XD

2. Okay, but he's the exception. He'll probably have roots by halfway through the game ^_~

3-5: Yeah, agreed XDDD

6: Eep, sucks to be him. I bet he opened the treasure chest outside of the creepy man with the pink bunny's house (his name escapes me, Danon?) Too bad, so sad, he can't get the ultimate weapon.

7: I liked that fact, too, but it limited the customization. There's DEFINITELY a challenge getting people through the licensing grid, which I think is on par with the challenge of getting people through the sphere grid. It's just that if you don't want to do a tonne of fighting and want to be efficient and only get the things they need, that in itself takes a lot of planning.

8: You did!? I think I missed that. Well, he's not one of the espers! And there's no Shiva, or Ifrit, either! ;.;

I haven't started XII yet, even though I did get the collector's edition in the mail yesterday -- instead spent the evening with Shannon handing out candy to kids, and watching a '79 remake of Nosferatu. And with having a Magic tournament friday night, and having to find the cards for the deck I want to put together I dunno if I'll get to the game until saturday (which I'd then have to stop for D&D in the evening).

But! After that, I've got a whole week off work. I'll be sure to be playing it for a while during then ^_^

Looking forward to it.

Btw, would you suggest that I pick up the strategy guide? Or should I not bother with it?

Yes, get the strategy guide. There's already been something that if I did the logical thing (open a treasure man) it'll rob me of the ultimate weapon towards the end, and there's NO indication in the game that this chest is any different than any other!
