I'm not sure if this a Wire reference or something else. (I've pimped your D.Kos piece on Tumblr.) I think part of what's bugging me--outside the wingnut gloating-- is that Keith already marginalized himself with the move to Current. I'm trying to tell people why this sucks so hard and they're just staring at me like I'm nuts.

It is.
While taking a punishment detail from his *previous* round of bosses on Harbor Patrol, our man Jimmy(of the sexy mouth and magic, sympathy-engendering eyebrows) is on the spot when sixteen dead women are floating in the harbor between jurisdictions. All he has to do from a bureaucratic standpoint is sign off on them and they become the county's problem. But Jimmy can't do that--whether he is rubbing it in, being a dick on purpose{the hater view) or because, in my charitable take, it offends him to do business in such a manner. In any case, Jimmy uses his brain and harbor charts to find that they are in Baltimore City waters. So he has now gifted his department with sixteen Jane Doe foreign nationals, no ID or anything, and created a lot of work for his best friend in the world...who does that sound like to you?

Aside from our beloved Keith, it sounds like a classic "Nice Job Breaking It, Hero" from TV Tropes.

Probably...although this is weird, because I totally know that guy and he did a Munchausen by proxy on our message board and faked his own death. A couple of my friends rounded up tropes for him and everything...it's an amusing site, but it's hard to even think about it now...and this conversation has a strange synchronicity because we used to talk about "The Wire" while he was supposedly seventy and being treated for some chronic condition or something...supposed to be in the hospital...fricking liar ( ... )
