Hi, I'm moving to Lincoln Square sometime this week from Massachusetts and I need a good vet. I was supposed to be in Chicago for the 1st but one of my cats ended up having emergency surgery (again) on Friday so I was waiting to make sure he's more stable to travel. When I finally get to Chicago, he'll need his stitches taken out in a week and a ( Read more... )

I recommend Jewell, which happens to be right in Lincoln Square. (Actually, I don't have any personal experience with veterinary emergencies, but I have heard great things about Jewell from real live people as well as internet people.)

If you do find a holistic vet in the area, I'd love to hear about it.

If you go to holisticvetlist.com you can do a search for the area and what you're looking for (small animals, acupuncture, etc.). Unfortunately for me, there's only one holistic vet in Chicago that does conventional medicine and I don't know how to get there. If you're interested, the name is Handle with Care Home Veterinary Services. They have a webpage but it looks like it's just been started because none of the links lead anywhere.

But thanks for the Jewell recommendation. It's actually right near my apartment, so that's very convenient.

I'm no help with the actual question, but I moved to Chicagoland from MA in January and to Lincoln Square in May. Welcome!

Hopefully you'll get an email alert about this comment or you'll never see it, but yeah! I'll add you, and if you ever want to hang out sometime, maybe we can meet up!

we have had good luck with north center animal hospital (http://northcenteranimalhospital.com/). they're at addison and lincoln so you could just take the lincoln bus down there (or the brown line when the addison stop re-opens).

I've always had good luck with the Higgins Animal Clinic, which is near the Paulina stop on the Brown Line. I've always taken dogs there, but my friend recently started taking his cat there and his been very impressed.
