Dammit, one of the things I like about the subway is it's a perfect excuse not to answer my phone, and also not to have to hear other people yammering away.

Thankfully, my provider isn't down there yet. (About the only time I wanted cell coverage is when my train got delayed somewhere around Grand, and it would've been nice to call into work and say I would be late.)

If your provider is AT&T, then I have bad news for you.

I agree with you about people talking on the train, but I find it useful to text. It's silent, and it lets me make last-minute changes with the people I'm meeting.

Yeah, texting is okay. I usually have my phone on vibrate when on the train - I try not to annoy people with my alert messages or ringtones.

'Sup, fellow Sprint subscriber.

Frankly, I find it difficult to have a conversation with the person standing next to me, let alone on a phone, while in the subway.

The answer: ignore your phone. Not everyone may know T-mobile has service in the subway. :)

Yeah, I rarely answer it above ground on the train or bus, why should this be any different.

I do kind of wish they had only implemented text and data access....I like being able to surf in the subway when bored, but I am sure other idiots will talk on the phone more.

Before my smartphone I would've been annoyed with this. I don't like loud talkers either. But now that I have real web surfing I hate having to make sure my google reader page has loaded up between damen and division before I lose my signal and have nothing to read on my way to work. So this actually makes me happy. Also, the texting people thing. I have 300 minutes a month on my phone and I never get anywhere near that so its not like I'll want to talk in the subway when I don't want to talk any other time.
