42 kinds sucked imo, while the ship spiraling towards the star (why was it spinning?) was believable, I just found completely unconvincing that the pod Martha was in could survive away from the ship. I pretty much gave up and went 'okay the writers have no understanding of basic physics' when Martha's pod was pulled back by a little magnetic field. Hello! Giant nuclear fireball giving off enormous EM field!
I agree though the lighting was amazing and the set was very convincing. I don't know if your saw Doctor Who Confidential, but most of the set was a converted disused paper-mill.
Next week's episode looks oddly similar to a 7th Doctor novel...

Seriously? That's really awesome. So cheers to their set decorator as well!
I've heard that next week's episode is based somewhat loosely on the novel "Human Nature". I'm really intrigued to see how they deal with the differences.
i've had my moments days in the sun moments i was second to none moments when i knew i did what i thought i couldn't do yeah, looking at me now you might not know it but i've had my moments
It's a close paraphrase of the chorus of an Emerson Drive song that I like very much. :D
Love the layout! Yay for Charlie/Claire...spread the love!
I agree that the lighting in 42 was amazing, as was the set design. Everything about the episode was just beautiful. Why couldn't the previous six episodes of season three have been as good?
My first serious OTP ever was probably Jack and Rose of Titanic, LOL. But my REAL first OTP was the Joker and Harley Quinn. I was shipping them before I even knew what shipping was. It was when I had first got internet access at home, around 1999ish. Back then, the Harley/Joker fandom was largely on two sites; Harley's Haven and Harley Quinn's Heaven. Now, one of those sites has ceased to exist except in archived form, and the other (last time I checked...God knows if it's still around anymore) wasn't being updated due to lack of Harley news. The Harley & Harley/Joker fandom seems to be mostly exculsive to Livejournal now. But those early days, when the fansites were still updateed? Good times, man.
Charlie/Claire were my first LOST OTP from that first scene they had together in the Pilot. They'll always be super special to me for that. I just love them...how can you not?
My first real 'ship, pre-fandom, was probably Rachel/Tobias, Animorphs. Which is probably indicative of the way I ended up shipping in general; I went for the psychotic warrior and the emo bird who were codependent, instead of, you know, a healthy relationship between sane people. But it wasn't an OTP because I still kinda had a soft spot for Rachel/Marco. And then I kept on going in that vein, having a couple that I loved but not being disinclined to 'ship them with other people as well.
And then I hit Charlie/Claire, and it was the first time a fictional couple made me go "They're meant to be, there's no one else who fits them as well as they do each other". And I love them dearly for it. ♥

42 was seriously gorgeous. From a tech standpoint probably the prettiest thing I've seen on TV in a long, long time. Just amazing.
