Instead, Jared just gazes at him with an unreadable expression. “Yeah,” he says, and Jensen wants to know if he’s imagining the rough rasp of Jared’s voice around the words. “Yeah. I wonder.”

I have no doubt that J2 can have entire conversations with precious few words or even no words at all, after years of living in each other's pockets. In that way, lines like the ones you mentioned have both advantages and disadvantages - they don't always have to say exactly what they're thinking, but that leaves so much room for interpretation and miscommunication. It's fascinating to think about.
