Re: friending policy.chibirisuchanSeptember 5 2008, 03:27:06 UTC
Sure thing - I put this LJ out there for folks to read and hopefully get some entertainment from, so anybody who wants to watch for the (unfortunately entirely too rare) times I get a chance to settle down and write more fic, feel free! I thiiiiink I've got that in my profile, but just in case, here 'tis again.
Gotta warn you that I do tend not to friend people back here unless (a) I know them somehow or (b) they write ficstuff and don't post it to the Usual Suspects communities, 'cause I don't have enough time to keep up with my flist as much as I should anyway and I feel guilty about that. ^^;;;
hi! I was just going to say I saw your post in ffpress about their new policies? I just sent them a listing for my genesis/angeal fanart, and they said I had to have a header, so I gave them one, but they haven't updated with a blurb on my piece. Sooooo when did they get hardass?
A few months ago -- I don't remember exactly when because it was while my life was chewing on my brain after my basement flooded with sewage this summer, but now their current position is "if your header identifies it as FF7 but doesn't identify a specific sub-branch of FF7 canon, even if it's AU -- or if it identifies a specific sub-branch and we think you've identified it wrong -- we skip it
( ... )
I also notice that there used to be someone watching our redleather_love com and putting notices in ff_press on our behalf, but now that has stopped to, so maybe now the newsletter is only putting in content that people provide in a proscribed way? I don't know that I'll be providing links to them anymore myself.
Maybe try their email address and tell them that you miss the inclusive-listings days too? I have a feeling they either don't know or don't really get exactly how much FF7 fans feel jilted by their change in policy, since I think the editors are all FF12 and FF8 fans...

I've been reading non-stop of anything FFVII you've written for the past week. My room mate mentioned that he wakes up every time I laugh in the wee hours of the morning (or the not so wee, like say 7am

Awwww - thank you! ^____^ If you like my FF7 stuff, I suspect what you'd really enjoy is looking around the LJ communities. ff_press has a daily list of collected posts from all the different FF-related communities out there, listed by fandom. And then there are communities for particular topics -- fans of particular characters, fans of particular pairings, etc.
I'm not all that prolific -- I write loooong but don't post all that often because RL tends to eat me alive on a fairly regular basis, so until the day when it becomes legal to make a living as a fanfic writer, I probably won't have time to post very much. But there are a lot of fans out there who have time to write a lot more often than I do!
If you like things with my general "fix-it and make it happier" approach to the angst of the FF7 world, you might want to check out stuff by ciceqi, tokyoroadkill, amarissia, aikonamika, mystiri-1, karadin, delaese, ani_mama (for art), and then there are the folks who post to their own communities like guiltyredfics, etrixiswriting, staci_writes,and I know I'm forgetting dozens but I've got to run in about 5 minutes and these are the ones whose

I swung around again and I can't help but be curious. Have you moved on to a different website or has RL swallowed up all your time?
If you do have time to read... Butterfly Effect by Kiraya http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2707071/1/Butterfly_Effect A beautiful story, though it is not finished - and it will draw tears by the current chapter. Another story too is Eir's Tomorrow by Hades' Pheonix. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4223348/1/ Equally impressive and with some fantastic work with emotion and possibilities.
Please let me know if you are still writing! Thank you for all your stories!

^^;;; A little bit of both - I've been playing in some other fandoms, posting fic to other-fandom communities since I figure the people who watch me here are FF7 and/or Naruto fans and I'd rather not tempt another round of Naruto entitlement whining by posting something here that would re-attract their attention to the fact that I'm Not Writing What They Expect I Should. And I've been getting seriously munched on by work insanity (I'm doing an average of 7 people's jobs at work for the past 6 months. I'm not kidding.) So I'm not dead, just haven't been posting here-here as much as posting in the fandom-specific comms where folks in those fandoms would be.
huh. when you de-anoned for Aeos, i had no idea how many of your other pieces i've read and enjoyed. ^_^ awesome.
here i was just coming to give you some encouragement and support. Aeos is easily one of the best things i've read in the last year and i cannot tell you how much i look forward to each update. the one throwaway line which sparked all the debate worked, and i was neither offended nor put off by it.
please, don't let the haters get you down. haters gonna hate, you know? but you're a great author who's writing an amazing story. (and any story that sparks debate like that is Doing It Right, IMHO.)
definitely going to have to come back here later, though, and reread some of these older works. ^_^ however, i have my own meme request to work on and i've promised someone an update by friday.
This is a really random comment from a long-time lurker and lover of your fic... particularly the shoggoth fics... but have you any idea where Sleeps-Wih-Coyotes/ [info]ciceqi's stuff has gone?
I'm really really sorry if that's being rude at all, but your stuff got me into her stuff and I want to read hers again now that I've read yours again except that her site's been down for months now and her LJ looks empty...
I'm so happy to see a comment by another late-comer like myself. I've been reading all the FFVII stuff I can get my hands on, as I'm a total fan and LOVE the whole Cloud/Zack/Sephiroth story arc. Nice to meet you. Wondering though -- did everyone just /quit/ writing FFVII fan fic after about, oh, the end of 2008? Sad, that. Anyhow, just wanted to shout out from SoCal and say hi. Good luck in your meanderings and search for reading material.
