Arthur doesn't know what it is to really be loved by someone. He's never been really loved by someone.I actually think that a lot of the behavior fans have had a problem with this season in regard to Arthur pelting Merlin with various objects can be traced back to Arthur not valuing someone who so unconditionally loves him as Merlin clearly does. Arthur still doesn't seem to "get" Merlin and seems sorta uncomfortable and embarrassed at times in the face of Merlin's unwavering loyalty. I think that's where the dismissiveness and almost aggressiveness comes into play sometimes. And yeah, I think the conditional dynamic he shares with Gwen is more familiar and safe for him to pursue and it breaks my heart ( ... )

Poor Arthur is just so messed up and turned around. I have faith, though, that one day he will get hit by the clue bus and figure it out.

I think because I like Gwaine I can't ship him with Merlin. It's just not fair to Gwaine! He deserves someone who actually crushes on him back.

oh Merlin, PLEASE TELL HIM ABOUT YOUR MAGIC. Arthur needs to feel trusted and loved for who he is and at this point and you are the only one who can do it :(

As for Merlin/Gwaine and Merlin/Arthur and Merlin being in love with Arthur even though Gwaine is all gaga over him, I ranted about it a bit here and I still stand by it. I just. BOYS. I am both a Merlin girl and an Arthur girl (yes, it is possible!) and it breaks my heart that they are so lonely but they do not just TALK to each other like they should because if they did it would all be okay.

I think A/G is forced SO MUCH to tone down the homoerotic. That's all. They just CAN'T make this show go too "gay" as it is a family show. But for emotionally mature audience, I seriously lack the interest in A/G story.
I hate to say, but with all the well designed pose and kiss, the A/G romance is still less convincing than Mr. Tiger Wood's marriage.
