Sorry this chapter's short. They'll get longer as time goes on.
I am also aware the days of the week don't match up. This is on purpose. In the fic, December 2 is on a Wednesday.

Wednesday; December Second

Iruka slapped at his alarm clock, turning over so he could doze another five minutes before getting up for work, until he heard a muffled crash from the other room. He jumped up, rushing out to see what was going on.

"Sorry, sensei. Did I wake you?" Naruto asked, picking the dropped pot up from the floor. "I'm making us ramen for breakfast. What kind do you want?"

Iruka laughed. "I thought I had an intruder. Make whatever kind you want. Don't burn the place down I'm going to take a shower." There was a beeping from the other room that prompted Iruka to correct himself. "I'm going to turn off my alarm clock, then I'm going to take a shower."

"Okay!"

When Iruka came out fully dressed later, Naruto was already eating.

"Hurry up, Sensei. Your ramen's getting cold." Naruto grinned.

"Thank you, Naruto."

After breakfast, filled with many harrowing stories of Naruto's strength and power, Iruka left for school, giving Naruto one last hug and a gingerbread cookie. It was a good start to a good day. His class was even better behaved than usual.

A laugh echoed down the hall from the mission room as Iruka approached to begin his shift.

"What's everyone laughing a-... Why can't I move?" Iruka looked down at his feet. There wasn't anything on the floor, but he wouldn't put it past the numerous jounin that hung around the mission office every day to rig some trap for their amusement.

"Woot! We got Iruka-sensei!" Anko grinned from her perch on the desk. Everyone else was muttering about who would come in next.

"I should have guessed. What's going on?" Iruka asked, crossing his arms over his chest and trying to shift his weight to a more comfortable standing position.

"Look up."

Iruka did. "Mistletoe?"

"Yep," She chirped. "Dunno who put it there, but you're stuck there for thirty seconds unless someone else comes in. Then you have to give them a kiss or you'll never move."

Iruka sighed, glancing at the clock on the wall while Anko chattered on about who she thought might come in next.

"Yo... Why can't I move?"

Looking up at the man beside him, Iruka winced at Anko's squeal

"It's Kakashi! Time for kissing. Pucker up 'Ruka!"

"What?!" Iruka snarled at her.

"It's tradition!"

"You have to be kidding me." Iruka sighed.

"Here." Kakashi tapped Iruka's shoulder with a short scroll.

"What?" Iruka took it automatically, staring as he felt his feet move again.

"Hey! How'd you do that?" Anko wailed. "You didn't kiss. How're you moving?!"

"Asuma would you please take that down now?" Kakashi drawled. Asuma grumbled, going through a few hand signs to erase it.

Iruka unrolled the scroll, as he took his spot. " 'A Kiss.' " He read. "That's it?"

"Yeah, Asuma and I made that up a few years ago; but I thought we'd agreed not to put it anywhere public after Ebisu and Gai got trapped together."

"Ebisu's on a mission, and Gai's on one of his 48 hour training kicks. I would have taken it down... eventually..."

"In any case." Iruka interrupted. "Most of you have missions to do. Kakashi, your report, please?" Iruka held out his hand.

Kakashi handed it to him.

Looking it over, Iruka found everything in order. "Thank you for your hard work." He smiled, stamping it and motioning for the next person to come forward. Iruka worked efficiently. By the time his shift ended around seven, the room was nearly empty save for Anko and Kurenai gossiping with a few others in one corner about what might have happened if Kakashi hadn't 'cheated'. Iruka had no interest in pursuing that conversation.
