They're DONE ahhhhhh.Geez, this was kind of an ordeal haha. I wanted to see how fast I could finish a pair, which resulted in me painting for 9 hours straight on the 2nd day and getting blurry eyed/nauseous/headachey towards the end. And of course, last night as I was in the home stretch and mixing the gray background paint I neglected to fully ( Read more... )

Nice!!! Were they easier to do at all since the designs look larger than your little ME guys?
Really good layout and colours (I know nothing of this show so can't comment further on that!)

These were for a friend though weren't they - if you're making them for a customer, after a while I'm sure you'll get to the "Eh, that's enough" stage... ;D

In unrelated news... Bioware Jobs??

Thanks! Yes and no...the line art was muuuuch easier than the ME pair since the style was a lot less detailed, and I could pretty much draw in the background characters by hand instead of having to painstakingly transfer them on from a printout. But on the other hand, I was trying to coordinate a lot more colors in my head because of the crazy background. It's pretty hard to make it colorful without clashing or having too much of the same hue on each side! I should keep a color wheel/palette on hand next time =P

Yea I'm pretty sure the adding more crap urge will get old after awhile XD I just wanted them to look really good so I could entice buyers haha.

I've been shopping around EA's job site for a looong time now, and it's kind of discouraging. Bioware has a couple positions open but like other big game companies, a lot of them "recommend" (ie won't really look at your application otherwise) 2-3 years professional experience. I usually apply anyway, but nothing really ever comes out of it =/

Yeah, I had a look at that Bioware job site (after that Montreal studio guy posted) and actually it was mostly programmers, not many artists/animator posts.

The experience thing is such a pain in the ass, for so many people. When I finished my Masters degree it was the same damn thing over and over, and I was like "HOW DO I GET EXPERIENCE!!???!?!" finally - I ended up volunteering for an environmental charity and they gave me my first contract post....after 2 years.. but at least I got on the ladder. :/

I don't know what animators/artists can do similarly... volunteer to do animation ads for local charities?? Internships? Wish places had more entry level posts? Break the hands of the competition??

Something will come along, it's just the waiting that sucks.
