Good lord he makes it look soooo easy and simple but my initial attempts looked like CRAP. HOW DOES HE DO IT IS HE A SORCERER?? But yea, his lighting is amaaaazing and I love how he doesn't rely on line work at all!
That's too bad that you missed out on the first book! It's probably my favorite art book that I own, but that's because I love Nico Marlet's designs SO MUCH. The second one is great but it doesn't hold a candle to the first, probably because they are building on pre-existing designs vs figuring out everything from scratch. But I definitely still recommend getting it while you can!
Lol yea, in the fic Thane is all innocent and happy and crap while his mom's crying and kissing him goodbye...I was dying inside T___T I'm such a sucker for angst I swear.
No prob! It's such a great (but kinda long) tutorial because it's step by step and he explains exactly what he's doing. You can also download his entire tool/brush set from a link in the info section!
You should definitely give the first Kung Fu Panda a chance if you like animated movies. Normally I dislike/hate Dreamworks' animated stuff, but Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon really blew past my expectations. They're completely in another league compared to normal Dreamworks' fare. I just saw the second one and it's not as good as the first though =/

I've never watched the first movie before and no plans for the second, but those art book samples look really tempting to buy the book :F
