Gloss Paint. Impossible to Clean. Deliciously So.

Today was a ridiculously busy day. I had to get up early because I was going to St. Helens to meet someone for a few hours, only to receive a text while on the bus that they'd slept in and wouldn't be coming after all. This meant I was in St. Helens, with £50 that I wasn't supposed to spend, and time to kill before I had to be back in Newton.

It's great that you're doing all this volunteer work! Painting sounds like fun. My service group does projects like that, but never on days when I'm available.

Hooray for shopping! My dad has a bunch of Jethro Tull albums, I should give them a listen some time.

I bloody love it :D I'll probably be volunteering now for the rest of my life, alongside regular employment. It's brilliant fun!

Painting's knackering, but surprisingly satisfying - not only do you get a good workout, but it's great to stand back when you've got a wall done, for instance, and see what an impact just that one wall's had on the room.

RE: Jethro Tull - you should! They're awesome! It's rock, the likes of which you've never heard before :D

I saw Gong live a while ago, with Steve Hillage supporting - he was very good! :-) (Gong, of course, was completely, delightfully, mad. ^_^) I've not really delved too far into Canterbury-and-associated-stuff, except for Hatfield&tN/National Health - what would you recommend for the curious traveller? ;-)

That's v. cool re. your commission to provide artwork for the club!

You saw Gong? I'm jealous. I'm not familiar with the band but they're on my 'to listen' list - I've heard good things about them.

The Canterbury scene is funny, really - listen enough and read up on the history and you'll see how it's like a big family tree with roots in the Progressive genre, invading other areas. If that makes any sense. Caravan and Soft Machine are considered the two most prominent bands - as you've probably guessed, I adore Caravan to an extent where they're probably considering getting a restraining order on me, just in case. They're wonderful.

I'd also recommend Camel, in particular 'The Snow Goose'. Listen to the album, and also read the book on which it's based - you won't be disappointed!

AAAAHHH HATFIELD AND THE NORTH <3 They may not have lasted long as a unit (curse you, Virgin records!) but they were bloody marvellous ( ... )
