So I answer the phone while I'm muddling around getting breakfast (Princess got her pellets first, of course), and I wander back to the rabbit room and discover that Princess is hopping around loose in there. Normally, this is not a cause for concern, since everything in the rabbit room is pretty much there for her to destroy as she sees fit, but I left her pen closed because I knew I wasn't going to be up to fending off her attempts to eat all of my food for a few more hours.
She's figured out how to open her pen.
I'm guessing that she leaned on the panels until the catch came undone; she started leaning on them yesterday or so (she gets up on her hind legs and puts her front paws on the horizontal bar that runs across the middle of the wire panels). I don't think it was with the intent of getting out of her pen - usually I hang around a bit more when I give her food, and sometimes I have a carrot or apple piece for her, so she was probably checking to see if her treat dealer was around. It's a simple hook, and frankly I'm glad the pen didn't collapse on top of her.
I guess I'll have to come up with some way of locking the pen when I'm out of the apartment. There *is* still the pet gate for her to get through before she gets access to anything dangerous (exposed wires, roach bait), but at this rate, she might be able to figure out a way through that. Besides, given the escapades of seperis's rabbits, I'm pretty sure that she could jump it if she really wanted to.
