Shame On You ARAS and CBS

Amy Weinhouse, I used to think she had a decent voice and that I could get into a good female artist again. She sounded soulful and black and that's who I thought she was. I thought she was a soulful black female artist that would be a throwback to people like Ella and all the jazzy big band singers. What I didn't know at the time was that her ( Read more... )

She needs to be put in rehab, not patted on the back.

Amy Winehouse... the one in rehab? WTF. Justin Timberlake should have won, not that druggie. <.<;;;

(Believe me, I've read worse language in a Jackie Collins novel.)

She should have had it revoked. I'm sorry, but I couldn't give a Grammy to someone who needs help in the head. I'd rather give it to Miley Cyrus. Least she has natural talent, unlike Winehouse.

Exactly, even if her doctors told her to not go because of the rehab she's in the academy shouldn't be saying "We don't give to fucks that she's an abuser it's the song we like so we're going to reward her for being a no talent drunken hack with an amazing producer." CBS just wanted the ratings. How many voting members in the Academy were sitting there going "Who cares if she's a drunk because we all know someone in the music biz who's a drunk so let's just give her the trophy anyhow." Herbie Hancock was the saving grace for the nice with his win.

I have no foggiest idea what and/or who you're talking about, but Instapundit had an entry about it today:

you're really serious, aren't you?
do you think any of this is new, unusual or even terribly unexpected?
let's not reward people for use of drugs and alcohol?
a lot of people loved her album, considering it an amazing throwback or some bullshit, there's a reason she won, and that reason is very simply: everyone loves her.
that's pretty much what these award things are all about, nai?
so what if her personal life is a big mess, and she's cracked up on who gives a shit what, she makes good music
don't be so fucking naive

I agree with Rando. Her album was awesome. She deserved to be nominated for her effort just as much as everyone else did. Just because she drinks and uses drugs doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to win a Grammy.
