So, about 991 days ago I embarked on my very first "101 things in 1001 days" project. I wasn't quite sure where I'd end up, or what circumstances I'd be living under 2.75 years down the road (and needless to say, they've wound up very, very different from where I imagined I'd be), but that doesn't mean I've had a fantastic time trying new things,

how exactly does one "poke" lava? that sounds pretty awesome...

With a stick! (longer the better, as lava is extremely, extremely hot) We found a dried out tree branch along the way. It was walking stick sized, and I could only stand the heat for about a quarter of a second, holding it out at arm's length.
