I was channel surfing the other day, and saw something on the TV Guide channel that caught my interest. Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad was airing on MuchMusic. For those who don't know, MuchMusic is the Canadian equivalent of MTV (even though we have MTV Canada as well ( Read more... )

They can't possibly dub the songs due to copyright issues, right? I mean, shouldn't an anime and its music come as one package?

90% of the time if there is a change in the music with a dub it is due to copyright issues. Either the anime production company doesn't own the rights to the song worldwide or the artist has a stipulation in their contract that it cannot go to certain regions.

That being said if it's part of the anime itself, then they shouldn't even bring it over without the music (See macross 7 never getting released outside of japan)
