I'm teaching myself Dvorak, and it's making life... interesting.

In other news... I did a quick count, but I'm sure there's someone out there with more thorough knowledge on this one than I have... Is it really true that there are more aliens than people of color in comic books? My example was Teen Titans. Discuss.

There were a lot of blacksplotation folks in comics. It is merely that they never took off.

There are more aliens than minorities in comics as they currently stand and historically, though. Yes.

Comics are typically a sci-fi genre.

Ah, Dvorak, the bane of my existence on public computers. I would imagine that learning any new keyboard arrangement would be rather strange...

As for the comics question, I think that there are more aliens primarily since
1. Not every villain and hero can get their powers through an accident at a chemical factory, and aliens provide another plausible source.

2. The major heroes that have become popular originated in a time when the prospect of non-white characters likely meant diminished sales, and thus there are few non-white characters around.

Times have changed, but the bias of the past still holds. In the recently created Ultimate Marvel universe, Nick Fury looks a lot like Samuel L. Jackson, while in the original universe he is white. Changing past characters needs some excuse though, and having a minority take up the mantle of an existing character needs to be carefully done so it doesn't look like a publicity stunt.
