One of my cats had to be put down today. We took her in on Monday because she had basically stopped eating, and she's been there since then. Basically, she had a tumor in the lining of her chest which caused one of her lungs to collapse, and the other kept filling up with fluid so in the end she couldn't breathe properly

Yeah they are, it's almost like losing a close friend :(

I have such a huge soft spot for somewhat psychotic cats because they are always so endearingly sweet/lovely at the most random moments. Especially when they're feeling tired and ready to take a nap, they get all cuddly for that moment. Sounds like your cat was very much loved and she had a good life with you guys.
