For one of my final projects here in Japan we had to survey people on any topic we find interesting, as long as it's vaguely Japan-related. Then we have to make a graph and present our findings, in Japanese of course. Yes of course, a love between men and women, or women and women, men and men should be treated and respected the same.

I think male homosexuality is more publicaly accepted. Maybe to do with that a feminine man is no threat to the alpha male ego but a strong masculine woman may be.

I saw the pictures of that, and I discussed it a little with some students. The response was positive in a wasn't it cute kind of way. If the women had been more butch perhaps it wouldn't have been accepted so easily, as it wouldn't have been so cute.

I think and hope eventually it will be accepted. 'Half and half' seems to be more accepted (never sure if they mean transsexual, transgender or hermaphrodites?) then gay. I just think Japan is quite a bit a way behind the rest of the modern world but eventually they will get there.
