Tofutti "better than cream cheese" not made from food

Feb 01, 2009 08:20

The short story: it's not made from food, it's made from trans-fat.

Read the slightly longer story at Mostly Plants

tasty food, omni doesn't mean that, vegan, omni means everything, things that are not shiny

Ah, I see. I'm glad I continue to prefer real cream cheese.

bleh.

Having had fake sour cream recently, I think I'll return to using not(-as-)-pre-packaged processed food product alternatives or just skipping the ingredients entirely.

I've tried to tell you that Tofutti is not necessarily (or even usually) food.

Luckily, Tofutti cuties seem to be okay.

Ingredients: water, sugar, corn syrup solids [I'm not even sure what that means; maybe not completely food?], contains one or more of the following oils (corn, soy, coconut, and palm), soy protein, tofu, cooa butter, vanilla, soy lecithin, guar seed gum, carrageenan, carob bean gum, salt. Wafer Ingredients: unbleached wheat flour, sugar, caramel color, soybean oil, yellow corn flour, cocoa, modified corn starch, salt, baking soda, vegetable mono and diglycerides, soy lecithin.

I am clearly not up on my soy products; I assumed tofutti cuties were something like vegans who look good.
